My Story

Hi, my name is Melody Sharpe. I am a native of Alamance County, NC. Since the age of seven I have had a passion for riding horses. Throughout middle school and high school I competed in 4-H in Horse bowl, Horse Judging, and Hippology. From an early age I schooled as many horses as I could. I was given the opportunity to learn horsemanship skills; and ride and compete in various disciplines throughout my high school, and college career. Natural horsemanship skills have been the cornerstone of my successful progression throughout my training. While completing my Bachelor of Science degree in Equine Management at Averett University I discovered that I had a desire to further my knowledge of classical dressage training. During my college days I was able to become a certified instructor through the American Riding Instructors Association. I completed the Dressage level II and Stable Management level I of the certification program. I also managed my family owned boarding facility amid high school and college.

In my free time I enjoy working with young horses. I believe it is important to embrace cross-training methods when training horses, no matter the discipline. Cross-training can deliver many benefits to aid the development of the horses body and mind. I have experience riding and competing in hunters, eventing, dressage, and working western disciplines. I am welcoming riders of all ages and riding backgrounds. If you would like to learn more about me and my program; please contact me for more information.   336.693.2772
